Are Dualsun SPRING panels compatible with air-to-water heat pumps ?

Edited

Yes, Dualsun SPRING panels are compatible with dual service (producing space heating and Domestic Hot Water) air-to-water heat pumps

This article deals with the different ways you can connect air-to-water heat pumps to Dualsun hybrid panels depending on the type of heat pump.

1- Split system air-to-water heat pumps with an indoor unit containing a domestic hot water tank with a double exchanger

In this case, the solar thermal system will be connected to the lower heat exchanger located at the bottom of the domestic hot water tank of the heat pump:

This connection  also works for heat pumps with a space heating piping connected directly to the hydraulic module of the heat pump and for monobloc heat pumps containing DHW tank with a double exchanger.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of Air/Water heat pumps containing a domestic hot water tank with a double exchanger:

Brand

Model

Compatible water tank from the brand

Hitachi

YUTAKI

Viessmann

Vitocal 242-S

Vitocell 100-B

Airwell

Wellea monobloc

DHW Tank (200S; 300S ou 500S)

2- Split system air-to-water heat pumps with an indoor unit that does not contain any domestic hot water tank

In this case, a double exchanger tank will be added upstream : its upper heat exchanger will be connected to the domestic hot water circuit of the heat pump and its lower exchanger will be connected to the solar thermal circuit.

This connection  also works  with monobloc heat pumps that do not contain any hydraulic module.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of Air/Water heat pumps that do not contain any domestic hot water tank:

YUTAKI

Panasonic

Aquarea

AQUAREA T-CAP

3- Split system air-to-water heat pumps with an indoor unit containing a domestic hot water tank with a single exchanger

In this case, a solar tank (with a single exchanger) will be installed upstream and outside the integrated tank of the heat pump. This added solar tank will preheat the cold water inlet of the tank in the indoor heat pump unit. The solar thermal system will be connected to the solar tank exchanger. The solar tank  outlet will be connected to the cold water inlet of the tank integrated into the heat pump:

This connection  also works  for heat pumps with a space heating piping  directly connected to the hydraulic module of the indoor unit and for monobloc heat pumps containing a DHW tank with a single exchanger.
