How do I know if an existing heating system is compatible with Dualsun panels?

In single-family homes, Dualsun panels are generally connected to a hot water tank which holds a reserve of solar hot water. The DualSun panels heat this tank by means of water flowing between the panels (heated by the sun) and the hot water tank’s heat exchanger.

In general, the houses already have a heating system for both inside the home and domestic hot water, powered by an air/water heat pump, wood pellet boiler, gas boiler, fuel oil boiler, etc. 

To “connect” the Dualsun panels to these existing systems, it is first necessary to determine whether there is a hot water tank: this is the case for systems that are not “instantaneous” (most of those mentioned above). 

There are then 2 possibilities:

• If the hot water tank in place has space for a solar heat exchanger available below the tank, then it is compatible with the installation of DualSun panels.

• Otherwise it will have to be replaced with a solar-compatible tank: knowing that the life of a hot water tank varies between 5 and 10 years, it is often useful to check the age of the hot water tank already in place. If it is close to the end of its life, it's a good opportunity to replace it with a solar tank!
