Are Dualsun panels compatible with the power optimizer?

Edited

Electrical compatibility

In order to check the electrical compatibility we invite you to check the following article: Which inverters can be used with Dualsun SPRING & FLASH panels? And its dedicated tab.

Mechanical compatibility

Yes, DualSun panels are compatible with power optimizers. However, certain precautions must be taken during installation.

SPRING panels

Because of the thermal exchanger, the optimizer cannot be fixed to the frame of the panel. It can be attached to the mounting system (rails).

FLASH panels

The optimizer can be attached either to the panel frame OR to the mounting system.

If mounting on the panel frame, please follow these recommendations:

General guidelines for placing the optimizer on the FLASH panel frame

Optimizers are mounted on the oblong mounting holes present on the frames of DualSun panels, which can be seen in the technical drawings available in our Documentation Space.

It is possible to apply universal rules for placing any optimizer on FLASH solar panels.
The goal is to determine the areas where rails should not be installed to avoid any rail/optimizer collision during installation.

To do this, the following data must be recorded:

  • D: The distance between the edge of the solar panel and the center of the oblong hole where the optimizer will be mounted.

  • L: The length of the optimizer.

  • l: The width of the optimizer.

Once these measurements are taken, refer to the diagram below:

Additionally, it is important to ensure that the optimizer does not come into contact with the glass and that a gap is maintained.
The required gap varies depending on the optimizer model, so we recommend referring to the manufacturer's documentation.
The distance between the frame and the glass is
24.5 mm, which will help determine whether the space between the optimizer and the glass is sufficient.

Case of the SolarEdge S1200 Optimizer

SolarEdge S1200 optimizers are mounted on the oblong mounting holes present on the frames of DualSun panels, as shown in the technical drawings available in our Documentation Space.

When mounted in this way, the optimizer is positioned 10 ± 3 mm from the back of the laminate, which is sufficient to allow air circulation and heat dissipation.

Roof Clearance

The optimizer extends 4.7 cm beyond the surface of the frame, so the top of the rails must be at least 5 cm above the highest point of the roof.

Gap to the rails

The rails of the installation systems must not interfere with the optimizer.

Case of the Huawei SUN2000-450W-P2 / SUN2000-600W-P Optimizer

Here are the manufacturer's recommendations for mounting the optimizer:

For DualSun FLASH solar panels, this means ensuring that no rails are placed within 25 mm around the optimizer.

Additionally, it is essential to ensure that the optimizer is at least 25 mm from the roof, which should normally be the case.
When mounted on the solar panel frame, it will be positioned 25 mm from the glass.

This optimizer is therefore compatible with DualSun FLASH solar panels.
