Are DualSun SPRING panels compatible with PANASONIC thermodynamic heater PAW-DHW270C1F?

Edited

Yes, the hybrid solar panels Dualsun are compatible with the PANASONIC thermodynamic heater PAW-DHW270C1F.

For optimal coupling, it is recommended to schedule heating time slots by the thermodynamic group compatible with the customer's consumption habits and solar heating hours - see settings below:

  • Showers in the evening: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Showers in the morning: 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.

If necessary to ensure a better hot water comfort by programming heating time slots between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., it is possible to control the thermodynamic heater by the Dualsun solar controller. See next section for more details about this option.

Control of the thermodynamic water heater by the Dualsun solar controller

The intelligence of the PANASONIC PAW-DHW270C1F thermodynamic heater allows to optimize its coupling with the solar panels in order to reduce the electrical consumption and ensure the customer comfort at the same time. This could be done by good communication between the solar controller and the thermodynamic heater through an electrical signal avoiding simultaneous heating and giving priority to the free solar energy when it is available.

Here are the three necessary steps for this:

1- Electronic cards wiring

It is necessary to connect the relay R2 of the solar controller to the electronic board of the heater according to the figure below.

2- Solar controller programming

The solar controller has to be settled following these steps:

  1. Set the system 1

  2. Activate the parallel relay option ORPAR = ON

  3. Parallel Relay: REL = R2

  4. Reference relay: RELR = R1

  5. INVER = ON

3- Water heater programming

In order to allow this coupling with the solar system, the “MANUAL” mode has to be chosen as an operating mode for the water heater. Then, the user can define a set temperature and time slots for the water heater operation. It is also possible to activate the “ECO” option in order to avoid the solicitation of the electric heater for heating the tank water.

According to these configurations, the water heater operates only when it receives a signal from the solar controller. When this signal is received, the heat pump starts if there is a heat need and that the heater is in its operating time range. In case of adverse weather conditions, the electrical heater could take over.

Setting up steps of the temperature sensor of the solar controller

Remove the plug and foam from the housing next to the connections of the internal heat exchanger

Push the temperature sensor through the plug (the plug has been drilled for this purpose).

Insert the sensor into the chute ensuring that it is well positioned at the bottom of the housing

Put the foam back and insert the plug back into the product
