How to adjust the flow balancing of a DualSun multi-field installation ?

Edited

Depending on the application and the layout (arrangement of the panels on the roof), several cases can be distinguished and several solutions are possible:

  1. Pressurized system, multiple rows with the same number of panels

  2. Pressurized system, multiple rows with a different number of panels

  3. Direct pool system, multiple rows with the same number of panels

  4. Direct pool system, multiple rows with a different number of panels

Case 1: Pressurized system, multiple rows with the same number of panels

Ideally, a Tichelmann loop should be installed to balance the field flows on the cold inlet pipes to minimize heat loss.

Tichelmann loop : The principle of the Tichelmann loop is to equalize the pressure losses between the different branches of a closed hydraulic network (heating, air conditioning, solar network, etc.) by assigning them each the same length, the same elbows and the same equipment. Thus, each branch of the network has the same pressure drop and the flow rate is distributed equally between each branch.

We recommend installing shut-off valves at the entrance and exit of the field.

Case 2: Pressurized system, multiple rows with a different number of panels

To regulate the flow balancing of a DualSun installation composed of several unbalanced fields, it is necessary to provide:

  • a balancing valve at the inlet of each field and a shut-off valve at the outlet of each field

  • 1 spring connection kit per hydraulic field

The balancing valve must be able to pass completely for filling and must be correctly sized for the flow rate to be regulated. Click here to see an example of a balancing valve.

The shut-off valve at the field outlet allows efficient filling line by line by manipulating the balancing valves.

Cas 3: Direct pool system, multiple rows with the same number of panels

In portrait (only possible in portrait in swimming pool). The Tichelmann loop is to be realized on the hot outlet pipes in order to ensure the draining of the panels through the cold inlet pipes.

Case 4: Direct Pool system, multiple rows with a different number of panels

ATTENTION: The flow rate balancing is to be done by equipping the inlet pipe with a shut-off valve and a flow meter. The PVC flow meters are float models to be installed vertically. The shut-off valve allows the flow rate to be adjusted.

This solution causes additional head losses.
